Prof Ropo
Prof Ropo had taught at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he obtained his Ph.D. as Western Nigeria postgraduate scholar in 1977. Upon returning home, he worked as lecturer at the University of Ilorin, and the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) during which time he served as Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Florida. In 1989 he was appointed professor at the department of English and Mass Communication at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, where he served as Director, Centre for Comparative Study of the Humanities and later as Director of African Studies Centre during which he managed a Department of Education grant in a Consortium with Tuskegee University. He retired at Lincoln University in 2009.
During his academic career, he wrote books and research papers on African culture, Literature, and politics. He also served as training specialist at the National University of the Ivory Coast in Abidjan and the University of the Autonomous Region of the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua and as project associate in academic quality assurance at the University of Durban-Westville and the University of the North in South Africa. At the University of Ivory Coast, he directed a USAID project on Democracy, Education, and Development.
He was an active member of NADECO Abroad in North America during the pro-democracy struggle between 1993 and 1998. During that period, he served as Washington coordinator of National Liberation Council of Nigeria (NALICON). After his retirement at Lincoln University of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, he returned to Nigeria. Since then he had served as columnist and member of the Editorial Board of The Nation and as chairman of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism.
In his position as Chairman of the Board of Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services Ltd., Prof. Sekoni directs the functioning of the Board and serves as a major advisor to the Executive Management in corporate social responsibility, in which capacity the Board benefits from Prof. Sekoni’s academic and social interest in environmental aesthetics. He also advises in the area of business development strategy and business communication.

Engr. Kehinde Dawodu, P.E, CPESC Managing Director
- He was trained in the United States and has over 25 years of work experience as an Environmental Engineer of RECORD (P.E) IN the District of COLUMBIA, Washington, D.C., AND also a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control(CPESC). e work for 15 years with the District of Columbia Department of Energy and Environment reviewing complex stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and floodplain management plans submitted for new development or redevelopment of District property or facilities construction, to determine appropriate storm water management and sediment control measures. Also, analyzing pertinent data such as hydrology, hydraulics, soil characteristics, topography and land use practices to determine specific performance capacity of storm water management and sediment control facilities. Interprets flood insurance rate maps and provided technical assistance on floodplain management issues to the public. Mr. Dawodu provide technical sufficiency review of various projects including those completed by his colleagues in the technical branch.

The group assist land developers and design consultants and District government agencies to determine whether or not a major action, as defined in District of Columbia Environmental Policy ACT, WOULD result in significant adverse environmental impacts, either during construction or operational phase of a project
- independently, gathered, analyzed and interpreted various scientific data and prepared a steep slope concept policy proposal for the District of Columbia.
- coordinated the intra-agency technical study for an innovative water quality catch basin. The study was to recommend a more efficient and cost effective catch basin that would capture the critical mass of the pollutants, including oil, floatable debris, sediment, and metals before discharging into the city sewers or the District water bodies.
- supervised the delegation for the study of the nature, the locations, the potential for major land uses, and the principal hazards and limitations of unstable soils in the District of Columbia. The study was prompted by the growing neighborhood concern and the tide of litigations and the likelihood of a catastrophic failure inherent with the use of unstable soil. One of the outcome of the study is the database of locations of unstable soil in the District that is readily available for use by District Department of Regulatory Affairs (DCRA), District Department of Energy and Environment (DDOEE), District Department of Transportation (DDOT), District Office of Planning (DOP), development communities, civil design consultants and other stake holders.
- coordinated both the US EPA Non-Point Source Grant for Professional Services for the DC Storm Water Management design Guidebook Expansion and the professional Services for the Revision and Update of the DC Flood Hazard Rules.
- planned and managed the technical Training Workshop sponsored by the District of Columbia and the Washington Metropolitan Council of Government (MWCOG). The training was aimed at exploring Innovative Stormwater Management and Sediment Control for Infill and Redevelopment in Ultra Urban Areas.
- represented District of Columbia in collaboration with the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association (MAC-IECA) and the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) in planning and hosting a 2-day Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management Workshop and Trade Show. The purpose of the training was to educate the public and communicate the intricacies of our regulations and technical issues surrounding erosion and sediment control and stormwater management.
In his position as Managing Director /CEO of Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services, Mr. Dawodu is responsible for the coordination of project activities and reconciliation of on-going fieldwork commercial and technical parameters with the request for proposal (RFP). Works closely with various agencies, departments, and facility administrators, consulting architectural-engineering firms and manufacturers’ representatives, for the purpose of exchanging information relating to technical codes, policies, legislation, and compliance issues.

Prof. Femi Babalola oversees all BEES Nigeria & Sub-Saharan Africa operational projects and business development. Aside from his management experience, Prof. Babalola has technical experience in various environmentally related issues such as Groundwater Exploration, Hydrogeology/ Groundwater Hydrology, Geophysical Monitoring of Groundwater Pollution.
Prof. Olufemi Babalola has extensive international experience (Technical, Management and Business Development) over more than 3 decades (at Executive and Advisor levels) in 9 countries across 4 continents across multiple industries: Watewater/Waste Recycling and Renewable Enery; Upstream Petroleum (Exploration & Production), Information Technology and Business/Opeartions Management. Prof. Babalola has a keen interest in ffollowing and utilizing new scientific and technological advancements as well as learning about ethnic/nationalities histories and cultures across the world.
Prof. Olufemi Babalola has extensive Technical, Managerial and Business Development experience over more than 3 decades (at Executive and Advisor levels) in 9 countries across 4 continents leveraging skills in Information Technology, Strategic Management, Operations Management and International Business Development/ International Marketing for engagements in the Petroleum, Earth-Resource Development and Environmental Management industries. Prof. Babalola also has high-level skills in Economic Evaluation & Investment Decisions, Project Management, Risk Analysis/Risk Management, Disaster Recovery Planning / Business Continuity, Information Systems Analysis (including Knowledge-Work Systems, as well as ERP, CRM and SCM Software), Technical Services Delivery amd Quality Assurance.
Prof. Babalola has been a Senior Technical Consultant who has filled roles of Technical Lead, Project Manager and Practice Manager in Integrated E&P Geosciences and Integrated Reservoir Studies. He has filled roles of Operations Manager/Operations Director in the Earth-Resource Development and Environmental Management industries. Prof. Babalola’s experience include serving as General Manager of Sub-surface Studies for a major indigenous Nigerian company, overseeing the company’s multi-city operationsacross the country providing technical and managerial leadership and subject-matter expertise for various Geoscience, Petrophysical, Engineering, and Inter-disciplinary projects.
Prof. Babalola has high-technology expertise in Computer-intensive technical and business processes. He has provided Technical Support & Technology Transfer (Training and Mentoring) to the various industries. He enjoys mentoring young professionals, and building a conducive environment for teamwork in work, civic and other organizations.
Prof. Babalola holds a 1990 PhD from the Univ. of South Carolina; a 1984 MA from The University of Texas at Austin; and a B.Sc. (with credits for a second major) from the Univerity of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo Univerity), Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He also holds an MBA with Information Systems Concentration and minors in Strategic Management/ Operations Management & International Business/ International Marketing. He conducted post-doctoral studies in Engineering, Industrial Engineering / Engineering Management and in Information Communication Technology, Information Technology Project Management.Prof. Babalola conducted post-doctoral studies in various Engineering disciplines including Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, Industrial Engineering / Engineering Management and Information Communications Technology, and in Project Management (Engineering and Information Technology).

Engr. Johnson is an executive director of Courtyard Power, a power generation and power distribution.

Charles Wilson Jr., is the Technical Director of Training with Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services. Charles Wilson Jr. RLA, CPESC, CpSWQ, CESSWI, and CPMSM. Charles has over 32 years of professional experience as a Register land scape Architect and work for several years with Daft McCune Walker Inc., Site Environmental Inc. In his position, Mr. Wilson is responsible for the administration and coordination of the in-house workforce capacity building program. He conducts review examination for the CPESC, CPSWQ, CESSWI and CPMSM.

Sam El Amin has over twenty-five years’ experience in wastewater operations, management and training, specializing in EPA permit related lab analyses, high rate anaerobic digestion, renewable energy through digester gas production and utilization, dewatering, and chemical conditioning.
Thomas E. Anderson
Thomas E. Anderson serves as the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance Services with Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services Ltd.
After his University of Cincinnati training in Mechanical / Electrical Technology (Ohio College of Applied Sciences), his extensive professional experience has included engineering design calculations to determine capacities, required size, and processes of Wastewater Treatment Systems. He has vast experienced in the operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants, all involved equipment and the training of operators on the systems. He is also experienced in project management handling projects involving engineers, operators, contractors and business owners.
His accreditations include Kentucky Class III Operators Certificate for wastewater operation, Class II Operators Certificate for wastewater operation, Indiana Class II Operators Certificate for wastewater operation. He was most recently VP/ Manager of Engineering and Manufacturing.
His professional activities include presentation of a paper on “Package Wastewater Treatment Systems” to the Latin American Chemical Engineering Society, as well as service as State Board Chairman of the Kentucky Water and Wastewater Operators Association, Vice Chairman, State Board Kentucky Wastewater Operators Association, Director of Water and Wastewater – Central Chapter Kentucky Water and Wastewater Operators Association.
Among his professional honors was the Invited Speech at the Kentucky Governor’s Conference on Environmental Protection. He also received the ‘5-S’ Award from Ky-Tenn WPCA for work with operators and training programs.
Marshall H. Phillips
Marshall H. Phillips serves as the Associate Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance Services with Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services Ltd. His accreditations include W5SA Certification by the State of Maryland as well as the Wastewater Superintendent License.
His experience since 1985 was with the Back River W.W.T.P of the City of Baltimore, Maryland, USA where he rose from Operations Technician Supervisor grades to Area Supervisor., then to Operations Engineer.
His responsibilities have included day-to-day administration of Plant Operations and the administration and review of construction and proposed Operational Process advancements, Safety Programs and Personnel Licensing issues. His responsibilities have also included administration and teaching of the Wastewater Apprenticeship program for all Wastewater operators at the City of Baltimore’s two wastewater treatment plants.
Over more than 20 years, he has served as Officer and Board member of Water, Waste Operator’s Association (W.W.O.A). and Short Course Committee Chair for Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C.
Among his Industry Awards are the Stanley Kappa Award for Outstanding Achievement in the training of Environmental Professionals, the W.W.O.A. Lifetime Achievement Award and the Wewoka Outstanding Personal Service Award.
Olalekan Majekodunmi,...Financial Analyst and the Director of Finance
Olalekan Majekodunmi, is a Financial Analyst and the Director of Finance with Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services, llc .
He has had a varied working life history in both the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy that traverse the Academics, Consultancy, Audit Practice, and the Industrial landscape. Over the years, Lekan had participated in high profile External Audit and Consultancy engagements. Some of his exposures include:
- Country Auditor – Fondazione AVSI Italy, Nigeria Office (with Deloitte, Italy as the Lead Auditor)
- Engagement Partner – External Audit Exercise of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
- Team Leader – Forensic Audit of Capital Oil Plc.

He had also at various times served as Financial Consultant on a number of World Bank Projects and featured as a regular member of past Inspection Teams of the National Insurance Commission to Insurance Companies and Insurance Broker Firms in Nigeria. Olalekan is an MBA holder of the Metropolitan Business School, UK and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. With over 12 years of financial management and accounting experience, Adebo serves as Financial Analyst assisting the Director of Finance for Butubutu Environmental Services in business development, financial operations including: budget and strategic planning, procurement and contracts management. Abimbola holds a Masters degree in law, A member of the Nigerian Bar association and other professional bodies, she is the principal partner in Olomola-Owa and co, a corporate law firm based in Ikeja Lagos Nigeria, she serves as Company Secretary and Legal Adviser. Michael Fleming
Michael Fleming serves as the pipeline design consultant engineer with Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services Ltd. After his B. Sc. (Hons) Civil & Structural Engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, UK.
Over twenty years of experience in a variety of civil engineering projects ranging from the design and construction supervision of urban and rural trunk and feeder roads to urban and rural water supply projects and major pipeline projects, township design projects and projects involving residential and commercial facilities in many countries in sub Saharan Africa. Extensive experience as Water and Sanitation Engineer and procurement specialist.
His professional registrations include the Engineering Institute of Zambia, Registered Professional Engineer (Zambia) and Association of Consulting Engineers Zambia

Dominic Sikuka
Dominic Sikuka is an experienced and mature business manager with strong technical knowledge of pipeline solution systems He serves as the water and sewer pipe supply consultant with Butubutu Environmental and Engineering Services.
He is an Industrial Chemist and holds an MBA from Nottingham Trent University Ltd.

Chemist, Quality Control/ Quality Assurance and Safety Officer for Laboratory Services. Wrote the Standard Operating Procedures and the Chemical Hygiene Plan for the wastewater lab. Performed wastewater analyses per EPA’s permit under the Clean Water Act such as total solids, total suspended solids, BOD5, total phosphorus, TKN, ammonia nitrogen, nitrite and nitrate nitrogen, COD, total organics and pesticides.
Managed the Thickening and Digestion Branch for 370mgd advanced wastewater plant for eight years, which includes gravity thickeners, dissolved air floatation units, high rate anaerobic digesters and sludge regretting and grinding. Designed polymer test trials for the floatation unit operation which resulted in optimal dosages for low molecular weight polymers and cost reductions of close to fifty percent. Initiated methane gas production and utilization improvements which resulted in gas production of as much as 1.8 million cubic feet of gas per day and reduced sludge volumes due to volatile solids destruction and improved dewatering. Interfaced with design and construction engineers on expansion projects and project close-outs. Optimized sludge inventory control to improve on percent solids in sludge conditioning and dewatering and to prevent runaway sludge blankets. Worked closely with design and construction engineers during construction phase of digester rehabilitation project, additional gravity thickeners, de-gritting and grinding facility, and dissolved air floatation rehabilitation project. Responsible for operations portion of close-out of several large EPA funded construction projects. Supervised 32-38 foremen, lead operators, and operators. Managed $1.5 million dollar a year budget, including chemicals.

Managed a 1.2 mgd extended aeration plant (South Plant), laboratory, two pump stations and two lagoons which consistently met EPA NPDES permit requirements. Trained and supervised chemists, certified operators, operator trainees, and laborers. Responsible for operation, maintenance, and budgets of the Department. Interfaced with design and construction engineers, and reported to EPA, Alabama Water Improvement Commission, the Mayor, Utility Board and City Council. Impacted the design and construction of the new 2.5 mgd Schreiber aeration facility (North Plant) and ozone generation pump station. Implemented training and certification for two biological treatment plants. Worked closely with water filtration plant manager on special projects (high trihalomethanes).
